Arsenal kickstart the new year with a win at Brentford

Arsenal sealed a 1-3 win against Brentford on Wednesday in the Premier League. The victory puts the Gunners back into second place ahead of Forest and six points behind Liverpool.
It was all level at the Gtech Community Stadium after the first half. Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring in the 13th minute to net the first goal of 2025, but Brentford's lead was cancelled by Gabriel Jesus, who headed in the rebounder from Partey's shot 15 minutes later. Nevertheless, the Gunners came away with a win thanks to two goals in quick succession from Merino and Martinelli.
