After the frustrated negotiation for Lionel Messi, FC Barcelona received good news for next season. As reported by 'RAC1', UEFA's action regarding the 'Osasuna case' could guarantee Barca's presence in the next Champions League.

Barcelona fans were confident that Lionel Messi would be back playing for the 'Cules' next season. However, the Argentinian gave an interview to 'Mundo Deportivo' and confirmed that he will continue his career in the United States, where Inter Miami are waiting for him.
FC Barcelona's hopes have completely collapsed, but the truth is that the Catalan side will have to turn the page quickly and start planning the squad for the 2023/24 season, where the objective will be to compete and play a leading role in the next edition of the UEFA Champions League.
Barca were crowned La Liga Santander champions and qualified automatically for the Champions League, although they could still be eliminated from the competition should UEFA sanction them for the 'Negreira affaire' and the payments to the former vice-president of the Referees' Committee (CTA).
However, as reported by 'RAC1', the Barca board understands that the European institution will not take a decision in the short term and that the possible punishment could be announced once the Spanish justice system issues a definitive sentence regarding this fact that still generates controversy.
How did they come to this conclusion? Barcelona will rely on UEFA's action regarding the Osasuna situation. In the last few hours, the body has opened proceedings against the Navarre club for a case of match-fixing during the 2012-13 season.
The case was finally sentenced a few weeks ago and the European institution began its investigation once the Spanish court's ruling was officially released.
For this reason, Barca believe that UEFA will act in the same way in the 'Negreira affaire' and will take a final decision only when the Supreme Court makes its position known.
The 'Cules', which have already received authorisation from the RFEF to play in the next Champions League, is fully confident that they will be able to play the European competition without any problems, even if UEFA finally decides to sanction the club in the not so distant future.
