Bayern Munich agreed personal terms with England captain Harry Kane but an initial 70-million-euro (£60-million) bid was rejected by Tottenham Hotspur. As a result, they are prepared to submit an improved second offer.
Spurs - and especially chairman Daniel Levy - are not willing to sell England's top goalscorer for less than 100 million pounds. Nor do they want to sell him to a direct Premier League rival.
According to several reports in England, the German side will offer £80 million plus add-ons and will present their second bid in the next few days. Bayern are optimistic that the English board will accept their new offer.
The Englishman has had a superb season with Spurs, scoring 32 goals and providing five assists in 49 appearances. Moreover, the 29-year-old has already scored his 57th goal for England.
