A real turning point. Everything seemed to indicate that his future would be in Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States. However, Sergio Busquets has changed his mind.
According to reports from 'Mundo Deportivo', the 34-year-old midfielder is considering the possibility of renewing his contract with FC Barcelona and staying at the club for at least another year.
His current contract expires in mid-2023 and for now no decision has been made. However, the possible renewal of his friend Lionel Messi's contract with Paris Saint-Germain could lead to Busquets' continuity at Barca.
It is common knowledge that the midfielder wants to try his luck in the United States. Without going any further, North American football was outlined as his new destination from July next year.
However, talks with Xavi Hernandez, coupled with Messi's decision, would have changed everything. The 'Cules' coach made it clear that he still counts on him and that he considers him an important part of the Barcelona first team.
Thus, it seems that, like Sergi Roberto, Busquets could postpone his desire to play in the MLS and thus continue linked to the Catalan team for another season.
