Four missing, but Mastantuono in the frame

Real Madrid held their final training session on Monday ahead of the La Liga opener against Osasuna, with Jude Bellingham, Ferland Mendy, Eduardo Camavinga and Endrick all absent – but with Franco Mastantuono taking part once again and pushing for a debut.

The Argentine midfielder, who only linked up with the squad midway through pre-season after turning 18, has now trained for four days at full tilt and looks in line for his first competitive call-up in Spain, should Xabi Alonso give the nod.
The four absentees – Bellingham, Mendy and Camavinga through injury, plus Endrick – will not feature in Alonso's first official squad list as head coach.
The morning session at Valdebebas began with gym work before the players moved onto the pitch for the section open to the media. Alonso was spotted in close conversation with Aurelien Tchouameni, hand on his shoulder, before the Frenchman joined team drills.
The squad then moved on to ball work, with academy youngster Thiago Pitarch drafted in, before the doors were closed for tactical work and finishing practice.
There was better news regarding Fede Valverde, who has shaken off a minor muscular issue that ruled him out of the friendly against Tirol last week. The Uruguayan midfielder has trained normally and is expected to be fit to start.
