Gareth Bale, who in the 82' minute scored, thanks to a penalty, the goal which gave Wales the draw against USA in the second game of Group B at the Qatar World Cup, declared that he was "happy with the goal", but that he "would've preferred the three points".
33 year old Bale played his first World Cup game - in just Wales' second tournament, 64 years after their first - and levelled to Weah's, George Weah's son, goal, 10 minutes before the break. It his 42nd goal in 109 games for his national side.
"We were really focused on this game, nothing else. They played well in the first half, so we had to change a few things in the second. It's ended up being a good point", the Welshman said, who has won five Champions Leagues with Real Madrid, before winning, a month ago, the North American MLS championship with Los Angeles FC.
"During the break we had to do a couple of things, we had to regroup, which is what the good sides do", he said. "I'm happy that I took the penalty and that I scored, but I would've preferred the three points", Bale commented, as well as admitting that he ended the match "tired".
"But we're going to continue going forward, which is what we have to do for our country", Bale declared in the Ali de Al Rayyan stadium after the game his side drew 1-1 with USA.
