Liverpool's new recruits make early impact in Community Shield

If the new signings were so eager to make their mark in their first taste of professional English football, here it was, no less.
Within just four minutes, Florian Wirtz delivered a precise cross that found fellow newcomer Hugo Ekitike, who calmly slotted the ball home to open the scoring and set the tone for the match.
Crystal Palace responded strongly, earning a penalty after Virgil van Dijk was judged to have fouled Sarr inside the box. Mateta confidently stepped up and coolly converted the spot-kick, sending Liverpool's goalkeeper the wrong way to level the score and bring the Eagles back into contention.
The match then swung back in Liverpool's favour thanks to another debutant, Jeremie Frimpong.
