Manchester City had a tough visit to Goodison Park where they found an Everton side who were a tough nut to crack. The Toffees took the lead in the 29th minute of the first half when Harrison scored from Mcneil's low cross from the left flank. Guardiola's side went in at half-time one down, but in the second half they were able to overcome the deficit and in the 52nd minute Foden equalised after a great shot from 20 yards. In the 61st minute, a handball by Onana in the box after a shot from Ake made it 1-2 after Alvarez had beaten Pickford from the penalty spot. In the final minutes after the Toffees keeper missed a pass and was out of the goal, Bernardo Silva picked up the ball and put in the third to put the game to bed.
