"Messi didn't want to go back to Barca and be the bad guy"

Carlos Tevez, one of the loudest voices in Argentinian football, applauded Messi's signing for Inter Miami. Foir him, Messi's decision not to return to Barcelona was to avoid being seen as "the bad guy" because in order for his return to take place, other players would have to reduce their salaries.

Although Messi wanted to return to Camp Nou, he ultimately punted for Inter Miami. MLS will be the next home of the World Cup winner.
Former footballer Carlos Tevez believes he knows why the star finally rejected a return to Barcelona. "It seems to me that Leo made the decision knowing and understanding his own situation. He didn't want to go back if it meant lowering his teammates' salaries and if he'd be the bad guy again", he said to 'F360'.
The player believes that it must have hurt the Argentinian to have to say "no" to the club he loved for so long: "It hurt him more than anyone not to return to Barcelona, which is his home. I think it was all very lukewarm".
But Tevez has no doubts that he chose well, "He punted for the US league. He likes Miami, it's calm for him and his family. I think he made the best choice", he stated.
"If it was not going to be Barcelona, where he knew he would be the centre of attention, then there was nothing in Europe. The decision was well-made.", finished the Argentinian, who seems content that his compatriot had finally left PSG.
