Pape Matar Sarr has agreed terms on a new six-and-a-half-year contract with Tottenham Hotspurs following his impressive start to the season and sensational form. According to journalist Jack Pitt-Brooke (The Athletic), the deal will be announced soon by the club.
The Senegal midfielder has established himself as a player with an important role in the first team plans under new manager Ange Postecoglou. Sarr joined Spurs from Ligue 1 side Metz in 2021 and returned to the French side on loan the following season.
The 21-year-old has made 33 appearances for Tottenham since his return and has scored five goals, including two in 18 Premier League games this season. The young Senegalese talent scored in Sunday's 3-1 home win over Bournemouth but ended up in tears due to injury as he feared an injury would put his participation in the AFCON with Senegal in doubt.
However, that same day, after the match, the player confirmed on social media that it was "more fear than harm" and said: "See you at CAN (AFCON)!"
