The shock of the watching fans. The inevitable mental breakdown. The embarrassment of conceding a goal in less than 10 seconds. That’s faster than you can tie your shoelaces.

But who is responsible for scoring the fastest goals in Premier League history? A quick guess would point you toward Alan Shearer, the Premier League’s record goalscorer. But who else joins the Englishman in the distinguished list of players with ridiculously fast Premier League goals? Is it Harry Kane? Romelu Lukaku? Or Wayne Rooney? Here are the 5 fastest Premier League goals in history.

1. Shane Long-07.69 Seconds, Watford vs. Southampton (2018-19)

Shane Long’s 7-second strike against Watford in the 2018-19 season is still the fastest goal in Premier League history. Following the kick-off at Vicarage Road, the Irish international took advantage of a Craig Cathcart error to put The Saints ahead in less than 10 seconds. In scoring a goal in under 8 seconds, Long broke Ledley King’s long-standing record of the fastest goal in Premier League history.

2. Philip Billing-09.11 Seconds, Bournemouth vs. Arsenal (2022-23 Season)

Philip Billing joined the list of the Premier League players to score the fastest goals in history with his 9-second opener against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the 2022/2023 season.

With Arsenal pushing for their first Premier League title in over 15 years, Billing stunned Mikel Arteta’s men with a well-worked-out goal after the kick-off before Marco Senesi doubled Bournemouth’s lead in the second half.

However, Arsenal managed to come back with second-half goals from Thomas Partey and Ben White before Reiss Nelson scored a last-gasp winner to clinch all the three points for The Gunners.

3. Ledley King-09.82 Seconds, Bradford vs. Tottenham Hotspur (2000-01 Season)

A center-back by virtue, you wouldn’t expect Ledley King to score many goals throughout his football career.

The Englishman represented Tottenham Hotspur for 13 years, making over 300 appearances for the club in all competitions.

King scored a few important goals during his time with Tottenham, including a 10-second strike in a 3-3 draw with Bradford in 2000 which became the fastest goal in Premier League history for 19 years.

This was the defender’s first goal for the North London club and would ultimately become one of his only 10 goals in his club career.

4. Alan Shearer-10.52 Seconds, Newcastle United vs. Man City (2002-03 Season)

A pure goal scorer by trade and one of the greatest strikers of all time, Alan Shearer made 303 appearances for Newcastle United, scoring 206 goals in all competitions.

It’s little surprise that one of his best-ever strikes also ranks among the fastest Premier League goals of all time.

Shearer’s 10-second goal against Manchester City in the 2002/2003 season ranks fourth in the list of the quickest premier league goals. This was
Shearer’s 218th goal on his way to becoming the Premier League’s record goalscorer with 42 more. It was also the first time the Englishman had scored in the first minute of a football match.

5. Christian Eriksen-10.54 Seconds, Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester United (2017-18 Season)

Christian Eriksen turns up for Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United these days. But the Danish international made a name for himself at Tottenham Hotspur, becoming part of an exciting Spurs side that reached the 2019 UEFA Champions League final in Madrid.

Eriksen’s 10-second strike against Manchester United is one of the fastest goals in the Premier League. With renovations at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, Tottenham played their home games at Wembley Stadium throughout the 2017-18 season. This made Christian Eriksen’s goal the fastest ever at Wembley Stadium.

As one of the finest midfielders in Tottenham’s history, Eriksen made 305 appearances for Spurs, scoring 69 goals in all competitions.
