In a lengthy interview with 'The Athletic', David Beckham gave his take on the takeover saga plaguing Manchester United, among other topics. The former Red Devil believes it's time for the controversial Glazer family to sell the club, if the club wants to get back to "the top of the tree" and compete with the likes of Manchester City.

David Beckham recently gave an interview with 'The Athetlic', and discussed a range of topics, including his former club, Manchester United. Beckham rose to fame with the Red Devils, winning six domestic league titles, among several other honours, before leaving for Europe and eventually the newly built American MLS.
Despite the fact his journey took him far away from his home in Manchester, he never forgot his old club, and has been keeping an eye on their mixed fortunes recently, including the takeover saga hampering the club.
The conversial and widely disliked owners, the Glazer family, are in a drawn-out sale, and the former English international believes "there has to be a decision" soon because you need owners who are "passionate...make the right decisions, bring in the right players and invest in the club".
"Because the club does need investment, whether it’s the training facility, stadium, on the field… these kinds of big things need to be made and changes do need to happen, especially when you see the likes of Man City and what they’re doing", he continued.
“It’s not just about what they’re winning. You can see that Man City are building for the future, not just from season to season. They’ve got stability with Pep (Guardiola, their manager since 2016, whose contract runs to 2025), who I am in awe of".
To get back to "the top of the tree", Beckham believes that the Glazers need to leave, saying "“I think it’s purely because the fans want it. Once you lose the fans, especially at a club like Manchester United, it’s hard to get them back".
