Ilkay Gundogan has joined Barcelona in the summer transfer window on a free transfer after playing for Manchester City for seven seasons. He helped his team win the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup treble last season. Now he starts a new adventure in La Liga.
The German maintains a close friendship with his former manager Pep Guardiola and revealed in an interview with 'ESPN' that he learned a lot about football from the Spanish coach.
"Before I joined Manchester City, I thought I knew football. I was 25 or 26 years old, I'd seen a lot. I'd played a Champions League final," he claimed.
"But now standing here after seven years of Pep's school, I'd say I didn't know anything about football before. His influence on the team and me personally was immense," the 32-year-old concluded.
